Twelve students of Tri County Technology Center’s licensed practical nursing program were recently awarded $500 scholarships each through the Schmoldt Foundation for Education.

The 12 recipients include Sara Brchan, Jessica Buesser, Nicole DePriest, Tenesha Horner, Valerie Jones, Patricia Miller, Jacqueline O’Rourke, Paige Parks, Kayla Patchett, Kimberly Rovenstine, Carla Smith and Jami Wilson.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of the Schmoldt Foundation for Education,” says TCTC Superintendent Lindel Fields. “Mr. Schmoldt has a passion and dedication to education that is truly admirable.”

In order to be considered as a candidate for the scholarship, students must show a financial need and are expected to continue successful performance standards in their attendance and grades through the remainder of the LPN program. Candidates also must complete a TCTC Foundation scholarship application, which is reviewed by the full-time scholarship committee.

The LPN program is highly competitive, as only 22 students are accepted into each class. Interested parties go through a three-step process including Compass placement testing or ACT testing; submission of high school and college transcripts, three letters of recommendation as well as a resume; and formal oral and written interviews.
