For over 50 years, the Service League Fund has championed local organizations that serve Washington County youth. And the tradition continues! The Service League Fund, via the Bartlesville Community Foundation, generously supported the Tri County Tech Foundation in providing scholarships to economically disadvantaged students to attend TCT’s STEM Camps, which were held June 5-16, 2017.
Each week-long, all-day camp focused on STEM-targeted subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and served youth in grades 5 through 10. Students experienced daily interaction with professionals from exciting, in-demand career fields and participated in interactive, hands-on activities and simulations. Additionally, students participated in field trips, team building exercises, entrepreneurship lessons, and also developed presentation skills. Attending STEM-focused camps — which included Electronics, Chef Camp, Computer Geek, Engineering, Lab Rats, and Robotics — allowed exposure of high-tech, in-demand fields to campers in a fun and interactive environment with the potential to pique their curiosity of future employment options.
Out of 186 campers, 13 were provided scholarships through the Tri County Tech Foundation. Without the generous support from donors like the Service League Fund, these opportunities would not have been possible for economically disadvantaged students. On behalf of all campers who were able to attend because of your support, we thank you, Service League of Bartlesville, for “investing in a brighter tomorrow”!
